Changes for the 2026 Season

This year marks our 21st year of delivering home-grown vegetables to you in Washington, DC and the Maryland suburbs. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, especially knowing that some of you have been with us since those first deliveries in my old Ford Escort.

Over the years, our delivery vehicles have changed, and so have our schedules. We started out delivering in the evenings, after the boys came home from school on Tuesdays and Fridays. When they left for college, we shifted to a longer, once-a-week daytime delivery.

Then came 2020. Like everyone else, we faced a lot of uncertainty—but as essential workers, we took our role seriously. With local farms suddenly more important than ever, and with an established CSA model already in place, we were able to scale up quickly to meet demand. That meant adding a second delivery day. It wasn’t easy, and it took us out of the fields more than we liked, but we were grateful for the health and energy to make it work.

The Saturday route proved popular, so we kept it even as demand eventually eased. But we also knew it wasn’t something we could sustain forever. After a lot of thought, we’ve decided that this year we’ll be returning to once-a-week Tuesday deliveries. For now, we won’t be offering deliveries or on-farm pickup on Saturdays.

This change gives us two additional days of fieldwork each week (since every delivery day also includes a harvest day), fewer miles on the van, and a more sustainable pace overall—for us and for the environment. And, as a bonus, if we’re invited to a Saturday wedding, we won’t be racing the clock to get there on time. I’m also hoping to run my first 5k this year, so having Saturday mornings free removes a few excuses!

As always, we remain flexible and committed to growing great food for you. Thank you for supporting us – whether you joined last year or have been with us from the old Ford Escort days.
